Naples, Idaho couldn’t care less if those fancy tourists drive straight through. Let them go. Most of them are snooty.
And the people in Naples Idaho, like most Americans, probably don’t spend much time considering all the chemicals frackers shoot deep into the earth.
“It’s a deadly brew down there,” said Dorothy.
“Down where shale is torn up and tortured, that’s’s where the earth is laced with methanol, diesel fuel, lead, hydrogen fluoride and naphthalene.
“Then you’ve got what they call the BTEX compounds… benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene.
“But the details are hidden. None of the oil and gas companies are required to reveal what they are up to. And they’ve spread enough money around so the government turns a blind eye.
“It’s all legal. All bought and paid for.”
The poison fracking leaves behind doesn’t make for a good Hollywood ending.
But it sure makes a bunch of money.
