Too fast for others on the freeway to approach, let alone pass, she soared as long as possible before traffic boxed her in coming up on the 405.
“The woman who came to the party at your neighbor’s birthday that night, the one who arrived late.” asked Nick. “Who is she?”
“You know, I’m not sure,” said Caroline. “I found out about her from a guy who heard about her on an online forum, but he didn’t actually know her. She was hard to get in touch with, it took me months. She’s kind of mythical, a lot of people know about her but it seems very few have ever seen her.”
“And you have?”
“Once before she showed up at the birthday party. She moves too fast to pin down, but not so fast she makes mistakes.”
