In the parking lot at Ralph’s on Weyburn Avenue, Caroline tried to get into one of the Cypriot detective’s cellphones.  Nick worked on opening the purloined laptop.

Neither made progress.  Shortly after midnight, they decided to take a break and resume with the benefits of a fresh start in the morning.

“I’ll drive.” said Caroline.  In the parking lot at Ralph’s they put the Cypriot detective’s devices back in the trunk.  Caroline turned down Westwood to Wilshire, through the subway construction and onto the northbound 405.

Four hours and forty minutes later, they pulled into Vegas.
