Angel Fire, New Mexico is rarely visited by angels anymore.

Caroline points to the framed picture of Teddy Roosevelt in the dining room of the little house in the Santa Monica Mountains.

“Here’s what he said.  He was in Memphis to give a speech.  I think it was 1907.  They still had steamboats on the Mississippi then.

Teddy Roosevelt told the rivermen, ‘The conservation of natural resources is the fundamental problem.  Unless we solve that problem it will avail us little to solve all others.’

She tried to cover up a cough and continued.  “We still haven’t solved the problem.  Most of the country thinks the government is hell bent on climate change.

“If that’s the case, why all the fracking?  Why is water being squandered with the fracking?  Why is the Environmental Protection Agency handing out kitchen passes?

“Teddy Roosevelt would be furious.”

At an exalted elevation of 8,600 feet, Angel Fire, New Mexico figures the angels will probably show up soon.
